Jayson’s story
Greetings, Winfield Residents —
I am honored to announce my candidacy for the Winfield Town Council. It has been a privilege meeting many of you, and I look forward to connecting with even more neighbors as I earn your trust, support, and vote. Together, we can continue building a community where families feel safe, supported, and proud to call Winfield home.
I have spent most of my life in Northwest Indiana. Raised in Merrillville, I graduated from Merrillville High School in 2002 before attending Indiana University Bloomington, where I earned degrees in Criminal Justice and Business Management in 2006. After completing my education, I returned to Winfield — where my family had settled — and have proudly called it home ever since.
Following graduation, I developed a strong interest in public service and was selected to for a competitive internship with the Indiana State Senate, working alongside two Republican senators. This experience provided valuable insight into government operations and reinforced the importance of listening to constituents and advocating for their concerns. When the internship concluded, I chose to pursue my first passion – public safety.
In 2010, I began my law enforcement career as a Reserve Officer with the Cedar Lake Police Department and was promoted to full-time officer just over a year later. I attended the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2012 and served the Cedar Lake community for nearly seven years. In 2017, I joined the Crown Point Police Department, where I currently serve as a patrol supervisor.
My lifelong connection to Northwest Indiana drives my commitment to public service and community leadership. I want Winfield to remain a place where families can grow, feel secure, and thrive for years to come. While we benefit from a growing community, I am committed to preserving the small-town character that makes Winfield special. Together, we can strike a responsible balance that ensures a bright future for our town.
I would be honored to serve as your voice on the Winfield Town Council.
Sincerely,
